Vikas Kumar

Vikas Kumar is a Lecturer in Management at Dublin City University Business School. He holds a PhD degree in Management Studies from Exeter Business School, UK. His PhD research was focussed on the investiagtion of the linkage between dependability, quality and customer satisfaction in information intensive service firms. He graduated with first class distinction degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering in 2005 from National Institute of Foundry and Forge Technology (NIFFT), India. He has worked as a Research Assistant in the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Systems Engineering at the University of Hong Kong prior to starting his PhD at University of Exeter, UK.
His current research interests include service operations, service quality, systems theory, supply chain management, scheduling, lean and agile, and service supply chain. He has worked on a number of consultancy projects for the firms like BT, EDF, LTSB, Vodafone etc.
His conference papers has won twice "Highly Commended Paper" award at the QUIS10 Symposium held at Florida, United States in June 2007 and at SCMIS 2010 conference in Hong Kong. He has published more than 20 research papers in leading Journals such as International Journal of Production Research(IJPR), International Journal of Service Industry Management (IJSIM), and Journal of Engineering Manufacture (ImechE part B) and international conferences. He has also published couple of book chapters.
He has successfully completed 'Learning and Teaching in Higher Education (LTHE)' certification programme and also holds 'Reuters 3000Xtra' product certification. He is also a member of the European International Business Academy (EIBA), and EurOma and POMS. He is well versed with various software such as LISREL, SPSS, C++,MINITAB,IGrafx, Meta Mix, and holds computer proficiency in Windows 9x/XP, MS-Office & Visio.

Worked on various consultancy projects for firms like BT, Vodafone, EDF etc., prepared a £100K grant proposal for UKIERI project, Published 3 International conference papers, 4 journal papers, and won ‘Best Paper’ award at Florida, US. I have gained valuable experience in working on various research projects and writing research grant proposals.

To provide pastoral and welfare support to the students. To develop and maintain good relationships with students and retain discipline within the university self-catered residences. This role made me more patient, confident and responsible towards my duties.
2008 - 2008Responsible for recruiting Social Programme Assistants, organising social programs, co-ordinating duty rota, assisting students to gain access to health and welfare services, liaison with the Accommodation co-ordinator over the allocation of students’ rooms and keeping accurate accommodation records. Gained valuable experience to be independent, confident, and work as a part of team also developed the leadership ability whilst working as Summer Support Coordinator. In summer my team managed around 400+ International students from China, Europe, Japan, Vietnam, Thailand, Middle east and other countries.

Gained valuable experience to work independently and within tight deadlines. It also provided me with an experience to be flexible and work under tremendous pressure.
